One of this years initiatives is to promote and encourage reading within our schools. Encouraging children to enjoy books, newspapers, magazines etc whilst they are at school and when they are outside school. We recognise that as a cluster of schools the importance and value of daily reading at home, adults modelling the enjoyment of reading and building excitement about what reading enables us to do and the doors it unlocks is so vitally important. When year group clusters meet this year, they will be mapping out ideas and strategies that help promote reading across their year groups. Headteachers will continue to oversee these meetings and support collaboration where it is felt that successes within particular year groups or schools could be rolled out across the whole Family of Schools.
We are hoping:
- To see an increase in the % of children reading at home
- % of pupils saying they enjoy reading increases
- % of children achieving expected level or exceeding in reading increases
