All young people in Felixstowe and Trimley deserve and should be entitled to the best Physical Education (PE), sport and physical activity including:
• Outstanding PE lessons which encourage physical literacy, high quality learning and leadership
• Competitive school sport and extensive sporting opportunities in school and through clubs
• Physical activity which promotes healthy and active lifestyles
P.E. Premium Background
The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games gave us an opportunity to inspire the nation to enjoy sport. The government is determined to secure a significant and lasting legacy from the Games, and to develop children’s enjoyment of PE, sport and physical activity from an early age.
High quality Physical Education, sport and physical activity should be an important element of the life of every school. It is widely recognised that sporting excellence and participation, alongside strong cultural opportunities, go hand in hand with high academic standards.
The government is providing additional funding of £150 million per annum for the 2013/14 and 2014/15 academic years in order to improve provision of PE, sport and physical activity in primary schools. There is also an aspiration to extend this funding until 2020, depending on the outcome of the next general election.
The Felixstowe Family of Schools believes that the competitive sports and opportunities for competition is extremely important. Because of this we have developed a programme of sporting events for our pupils to compete in.
